BIO-FORUM is one of the most influential international conferences in China in biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry, which has been successfully held for 13 times since 1995. It has become the platform for international exchange and cooperation in the area of biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry in Shanghai.

The first Shanghai International Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Industry Forum (Bio-Forum 2011) was held in Shanghai in 1995. The Modern Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Industry Office of Shanghai Municipality began to organize such an event every year since 2000. In the past 10 years, 1032 speakers, including Nobel Laureates, cross-national corporation presidents, well-known university professors and government officials, were invited to make presentations at the event, and altogether 7104 delegates participated, including an average of 25% overseas ones from more than 20 countries and regions.

Participated cross-national corporations included Pfizer¡¢Merck¡¢Novartis¡¢Roche¡¢Lilly¡¢Bayer, Biogen, GlaxoSmithKline¡¢Sanofi-Aventis¡¢BASF etc., well-known institutions included Harvard¡¢Yale¡¢NIH etc,. venture capitals included MPM¡¢IPC¡¢LEHMAN BROTHERS etc., and government agencies included SFDA, FDA£¬BIO£¬US Pharmacopeias, England Development Agency etc.

The organizer set the topics each year in accordance with the industry trends and took a variety of forms for the event: plenary sessions, parallel sessions of special topics, pre-conference sessions, round-table meetings, training courses, concurrent exhibitions and social activities. It aimed to provide an international communication and cooperation platform for the participants at home and abroad to the maximum extent.
